How To Farm Materials From Farosh
Farming materials from Dragons is an extraordinarily tricky but vital task for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom players looking to upgrade Link’s gear. Four dragons: Naydra, Dinraal, Farosh, and the Light Dragon, can be found circling the skies above Hyrule in Tears of the Kingdom. Each Dragon is the source of rare upgrade and Fuse materials found nowhere else in the game.
Luckily for aspiring adventurers, farming Dragon Materials is as simple as staying on or near each Dragon as it flies along its predetermined route through the skies. Most Dragon Materials respawn every ten real-life minutes as long as the game isn’t paused, allowing players to target different areas of a Dragon’s body to get what they need. However, players still have to find and reach each Dragon and figure out how to harvest the right resources.

How To Farm Materials From The Light Dragon
Getting on the Light Dragon in Zelda: TOTK is far more challenging than the other Dragons since it circles all of Hyrule and flies much higher. Players may encounter it while exploring the edges of the map, but it’s often hard to spot and even harder to reach.
It’s recommended that players help Impa find all 12 Geoglyphs, as this quest puts players on the path to retrieving Master Sword and grants them a close encounter with the Light Dragon that’s perfect for farming materials.
It’s also highly recommended that players explore the Lost Woods in Zelda: TOTK and help the Great Deku Tree. Completing this quest makes the Light Dragon fly much closer to the ground and temporarily marks its location until players grab the Master Sword.
Completing both quests makes it far easier for players to get on the Light Dragon. Using a nearby Skyview Tower is the best option to gain some height quickly. Alternatively, teleporting to a Sky Island can also put players close enough to glide to the Light Dragon.
Most Skyview Towers will put the Light Dragon well within reach. However, the Eldin Canyon, Sahasra Slope, and Rospro Pass Skyview Towers are ideal, as the Dragon flies extremely close to these Towers.
Once players manage to get on the Light Dragon’s back, they can begin harvesting the following materials:
Material | Location | Image | Effect |
---|---|---|---|
Shard of Light Dragon’s Spike | Found growing in clusters at the base of the glowing spikes on the Light Dragon’s back. | 12 Fuse Attack Power, heals on hit | |
Shard of Light Dragon’s Fang | Shoot the Light Dragon’s mouth to spawn one. | 16 Fuse Attack Power, heals on hit | |
Strike the horns on the Light Dragon’s head to spawn one. | 20 Fuse Attack Power, heals on hit | ||
Light Dragon’s Talon | Shoot the talons on the Light Dragon’s feet to spawn one. | 14 Fuse Attack Power, heals on hit | |
Light Dragon’s Scale | Strike the Light Dragon anywhere except its mouth, talons, and horns. | 12 Fuse Attack Power, heals on hit |
How To Farm Materials From Naydra
Unlike the Light Dragon, the Frost Dragon Naydra only flies over the East Necluda and Mount Lanayru regions. Unfortunately, it also occasionally dives into the Depths via chasms in this area, so it may temporarily disappear from view. To reach Naydra, players should fast-travel between the Mount Lanayru Skyview Tower, Rabella Wetlands Skyview Tower, or Sahasra Slope Skyview Tower in Zelda: TOTK. It also flies exceptionally close to the Hateno Ancient Tech Lab in Hateno Village, where players can easily reach it from the hilltop.
Getting on Naydra’s back can be tricky as it regularly launches frost projectiles, so it’s best to approach from behind if possible. Players will also need two tiers of Cold Resistance to survive the freezing cold that surrounds Naydra. Link can get this effect by eating meals that offer it or wearing the Snowquill armor set that can be purchased in Rito Village.
However, once players reach Naydra, they can begin harvesting the following materials:
Material | Location | Image | Effect |
---|---|---|---|
Shard of Naydra’s Spike | Found growing in clusters at the base of the spikes on Naydra’s back. | 16 Fuse Attack Power, Ice Damage | |
Shard of Naydra’s Fang | Shoot Naydra’s mouth to spawn one. | 20 Fuse Attack Power | |
Strike the horns on Naydra’s head to spawn one. | 26 Fuse Attack Power | ||
Naydra’s Claw | Shoot the talons on Naydra’s feet to spawn one. | 18 Fuse Attack Power | |
Naydra’s Scale | Strike Naydra anywhere except its mouth, talons, and horns. | 16 Fuse Attack Power |
How To Farm Materials From Dinraal
The Fire Dragon Dinraal flies over Deep Akkala and the Eldin Mountains and will occasionally enter the Depths. To reach Dinraal, the Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower or the Thyphlo Ruins Skyview Tower are ideal.
Dinraal also launches fiery projectiles around its body, and players will have to deal with hazardously hot conditions when attempting to harvest resources from its back. But, again, Link can get these by eating meals that offer Heat Resistance or wearing armor sets that apply this effect.
Material | Location | Image | Effect |
---|---|---|---|
Shard of Dinraal’s Spike | Found growing in clusters at the base of the spikes on Dinraal’s back. | 16 Fuse Attack Power, Fire Damage | |
Shard of Dinraal’s Fang | Shoot Dinraal’s mouth to spawn one. | 20 Fuse Attack Power | |
Dinraal’s Horn | Strike the horns on Dinraal’s head to spawn one. | 26 Fuse Attack Power | |
Dinraal’s Claw | Shoot the talons on Dinraal’s feet to spawn one. | 18 Fuse Attack Power | |
Dinraal’s Scale | Strike Dinraal anywhere except its mouth, talons, and horns. | 16 Fuse Attack Power |
How To Farm Materials From Farosh
The Lightning Dragon Farosh flies over the Gerudo region, specifically over areas such as Lake Hylia and Gerudo Canyon. As such, the best option for reaching it is Zelda TOTK’s Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower.
Farosh launches lightning projectiles around its body. However, unlike Naydra and Dinraal, players don’t need any resistance and can harvest resources without worrying about being electrocuted or shocked.
Material | Location | Image | Effect |
---|---|---|---|
Shard of Farosh’s Spike | Found growing in clusters at the base of the spikes on Farosh’s back. | 16 Fuse Attack Power, Shock Damage | |
Shard of Farosh’s Fang | Shoot Farosh’s mouth to spawn one. | 20 Fuse Attack Power | |
Strike the horn on Farosh’s head to spawn one. | 26 Fuse Attack Power | ||
Farosh’s Claw | Shoot the talons on Farosh’s feet to spawn one. | 18 Fuse Attack Power | |
Farosh’s Scale | Strike Farosh anywhere except its mouth, talons, and horns. | 16 Fuse Attack Power |
Farming Dragon Materials in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom isn’t always easy. However, players will find it’s well worth it, as Dragon Materials serve as some of the best Fuse materials in the game and are incredibly important for upgrading certain sets of armor.
