There is no fixed best time to buy a used bike, but there are a couple of trends you should be aware of. New bikes are released in March and September, with many buyers trading their current bike in. This means there tends to be more choice of used bikes around this time, and there can be reduced prices as sellers compete. Less in-demand models may have a further price reduction in April and October when sellers are keen to shift their unsold bikes.
Test driving is a great way to make sure a bike meets your needs, and that it is in a good condition. You can arrange a test drive when you contact the seller on Auto Trader. Make sure to check inside and outside the bike, and be aware of any strange noises, vibrations, or warning lights when you’re driving.
If you buy a used bike from a dealer and discover a fault within the first 30 days, you can return it under the Consumer Rights Act. You will also have some protection under the Sale of Goods Act 1979, which states the bike must match its description and be fit for purpose. If you buy a used bike from a private seller, then legally the seller must be allowed to sell the bike, and it must match its description. If you can prove either is untrue, you can return the bike. Due diligence is important, as you will need to prove any faults or inaccurate descriptions were in place when you bought the bike and not caused by you.

Because of the ease of use and accessibility of motorcycles, it's no surprise that they're easy targets for thieves. Indeed, the most stolen motorcycle in the UK is the Honda WW 125, also known as the PCX 125.
Determining the single most popular motorcycle of all time is a bit tricky, as popularity can be measured in different ways: Sales: In terms of pure sales numbers, the clear winner is the Honda SuperCub. With over 100 million units sold since its 1958 debut, it's the best-selling motorcycle ever made.
In the United Kingdom, the most common police motorcycles are the BMW R1200RT and the Yamaha FJR1300. Some police forces also use scooters within towns for parking enforcement, or special-purpose machines such as unmarked (covert), or off-road motorcycles.
Notable scratches and rust. Altered vehicle identification number. Wear and tear to the chain and sprockets. When was the last time the bike was driven?
Overall, the cruiser is a great choice for beginners because they're stylish, comfortable, and has a relaxed power output to handle better at low speeds. With that, the cruiser has plenty of flair and is suitable for all types of riding.
To help speed up your inspection process, here's a checklist to keep handy: General Condition: Look for rust, damage, or repairs. Engine: Check for leaks, listen to the sound, and watch for smoke. Tires: Check for any signs of extreme wear or damage.
To ride on public roads you first need to get a provisional licence and then complete compulsory basic training ( CBT ) to get a certificate. You must pass both parts of your practical test within 2 years of taking the theory test. If you do not, you'll have to start the process again.
If your licence was not issued in the EU or a designated country, the DVLA states you can drive any category of small vehicle (motorcycles, cars, vehicles up to 3,500kg such as vans, or with up to eight passenger seats) in the UK on your original full, valid licence for 12 months.
